Q-Archive is designed with privacy as a core principle. This policy explains what data we collect, what we don't collect, and how we protect your information.

Zero Knowledge Architecture

We do not have access to your files or your passwords. All encryption and decryption operations happen locally on your device. Your files are encrypted before they ever leave your computer, and we never receive the encryption keys or passwords you create.

This means that even if compelled by legal process, we cannot provide access to the contents of files you encrypt using Q-Archive because we simply do not possess that information.

No Cloud Storage

Files are never uploaded to our servers. Q-Archive operates entirely on your local machine. When you encrypt a file:

  • The original file remains on your device
  • The encrypted output file is created on your device
  • No data is transmitted to Q-Archive servers during the encryption process
  • No cloud backup or sync of your files occurs

You are responsible for storing, transmitting, and managing the encrypted files you create. We recommend standard backup practices for your important documents.

Data We Collect

We only collect license activation status and app version for updates. Specifically:

License Key Status To verify your license is valid and active
Application Version To notify you of available updates
Operating System To provide compatible updates

What We Do NOT Collect

We explicitly do not collect, store, or have access to:

  • Your files (encrypted or unencrypted)
  • Your passwords or encryption keys
  • File names or metadata
  • Recipient information
  • The contents of any documents you process
  • Your contacts or address book

Third-Party Services

Q-Archive uses the following third-party services:

  • License verification: We use a secure licensing service to validate software licenses
  • Update notifications: We check for updates from our secure update server

We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Security

Q-Archive uses AES-256 encryption, the same standard used by financial institutions and government agencies. All network communications between the application and our servers (for license verification and updates) use TLS 1.3 encryption.
